Hydra

Yes. The Hydra is a 6-metre, 115 hp motorboat rented without a skipper, so you need a valid boating licence. It departs from the Port of Caleta de Vélez, takes up to 8 people, and rental starts at €180, with fuel charged separately based on what the trip consumes.

Yes. The Maro waterfall is about 13 nautical miles from the Port of Caleta de Vélez, roughly an hour's sailing, so the round trip takes close to two hours. That is why we recommend Maro on 6- or 8-hour charters: on a 4-hour trip you would be left with little swimming time.

Leaving Caleta de Vélez you follow the Torrox and Nerja coastline, El Playazo is about 35 minutes away before entering the Maro-Cerro Gordo Cliffs nature reserve, home to the Maro waterfall and the Cañuelo, Pino and Barranco de Maro coves. It is a protected area: motorboats may not sail within 200 metres of beaches or 50 metres of the rest of the coastline, and anchoring is allowed only in the designated zones and during daylight.
